Funeral Services were held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Winner. She is survived by her three children, Eleanor Shimek of Gering, NE., Robert J.
(Nancy) Rohla of Presho, Edward Rohla of Carter; five grandchildren Karol (Galen) Smith of North Platte, NE., Jim (Coleen) Shimek of Scottsbluff, NE, Richard (Donna) Shimek of Winner, Jenny (Scott) Choquette of Overland Park, KS., and Cristy (Ross) Flemmer of Dell Rapids; nine great-grandchildren James, Amber and Ashley Shimek, Kristopher and Emily Smith, Elizabeth and Claire Choquette, Lucas and Jacob Flemmer; two step-great-grandsons Nick and Greg Smith; five great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Minnie Vopat of Kearney, NE., and a host of other relatives and friends. He was the third born child of Everett and Lola (Pierce) Cressy.
He worked at Murdo Oil for 20 years with his good friend Howard Peters.
He continued to go to Draper daily to care for his farm kitty.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Murdo; three children Patricia “Patty” Cressy of Pierre, Gene (Gayanne) Cressy Jr.
Vern Hyde, 81, of Pierre, formerly of Chamberlain, died February 4, 2017 at his residence in Pierre. Vern attended Wahehe County School and Wagner High School.
Services will be am, Thursday, February 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with visitation starting at . Vern was born May 16, 1935 in Wagner, SD to Vern Hyde Sr. After graduation from high school he attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. He could talk to anybody and put a smile on their face.Graduated from Pierre High School in 1948, then went on to teach in a one-room school in Lyman County. During his tour of duty, he met the love of his life, Karla.
